The poverty simulation is free but preregistration is required
Connect with and hear from elected officials, business and community leaders, and academic experts on ways to address poverty, improve our services, and build vibrant, equitable communities throughout Utah. The event will include an immersive poverty simulation that helps people to better understand the challenges and barriers that people face when living in poverty in order to implement better practices that create better opportunities for people to obtain financial stability. We encourage business leaders, company staff, community partners, advocates, and elected officials to join us to foster connection and collaboration throughout the community. Anyone from the general public may attend!
Various nonprofit and community organizations will be hosting booths to provide information about their services and impact in the community. Space is limited to a handful of booths. If interested in reserving a space, please contact Brent Hutchison at bhutchison@communityactionuc.org.
Keynote speakers include: Utah County Commissioner Amelia Gardner; Melissa Freigang, Founding Director of the Weber Prosperity Center of Excellence; Dr. Ben Gibbs, Associate Professor of Sociology at BYU; and Dave Moody, Director of Finance and Analytics at Henry Schein One.
