Michael Hayden, a retired United States Air Force four-star general, former Director of the National Security Agency, former Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence, and former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, will speak at Utah Valley University at 11 a.m. on Oct. 11 in the lecture hall of the Classroom Building (room 101b). The event is part of the UVU Presidential Lecture Series and is free and open to the public. His lecture is titled “Hot Spots at Home and Around the World.” Hayden has received an honorary doctorate from the Institute of World Politics in Washington, D.C. He is a principal at a security consultancy co-founded by Michael Chertoff, former Homeland Security Secretary. Hayden serves as a Distinguished Visiting Professor at George Mason University’s Schar School of Policy and Government. The Presidential Lecture Series, sponsored by the UVU Office of the President and the Office of Engaged Learning, enhances the academic exchange by bringing to campus the nation’s best scholars to speak to UVU students, faculty, staff and the public.
