UVU Presidential Lecture Series

Dr. Tererai Trent, an international scholar, humanitarian, author, and Oprah Winfrey’s “All-Time Favorite Guest,” will be the speaker at Utah Valley University’s Fall Presidential Lecture on October 10, 2018, in the Matthew S. Holland Lecture Hall in the Clarke Building. Her presentation is titled: “The Awakened Woman: The ‘Un-Silencing’ of Women.” Despite humble beginnings in war-torn Zimbabwe, Dr. Trent has earned multiple degrees and a prominent global platform with world leaders where she advocates for universal access to quality education. She is an international symbol of hope that dreams are indeed achievable. She founded Tererai Trent International, and has partnered with Oprah Winfrey and Save the Children to build 11 schools in Zimbabwe. The Presidential Lecture Series is an expression of the university’s commitment to a serious, engaged, and inclusive education.
