Renting a room or an entire home to guests for short stays can be profitable, or it can create loss and liability. If you list your home on popular sites like Airbnb or VRBO, you're running a small business and must comply with applicable regulations. There may be zoning restrictions, licensing or permit requirements, taxes you must collect and remit, and community rules that you and your guests must follow. Property managers and realtors need to know the differences between short-term rental and landlord/tenant laws, too. This 3-hour class explores essential laws, definitions, accounting practices, and house rules you need to know to be code-compliant and neighborhood-friendly. It is eligible for 3 CORE CE through the Utah Division of Real Estate, as a stand-alone class or you may complete the 4-part series on Vacation Home/Short-Term Rental Management and earn the STR Certification.
